And, it would seem, Nvidia is struggling too. Yes, after 17 years, it appears that Nvidia is retiring its Quadro brand.įor someone who has written about Nvidia professional GPUs since the early 2000s, it’s hard to get used to this change. The observant among you will have noticed that the Nvidia RTX A6000 is missing something. PCIe Gen 4 is currently only available in workstations with the latest AMD CPUs. With double the bandwidth of PCIe Gen 3, it should mean data can move in and out of the GPU quicker, but it won’t benefit all workflows. The Nvidia RTX A6000 is the first workstation GPU to be built on the Nvidia Ampere architecture, and also the first to support PCIe Gen 4. And, of course, it also offers a significant boost for 3D graphics, VR, and AI workflows. With an emphasis on hardware-based ray tracing, it promises to deliver more than double the GPU rendering performance of its predecessor, the Turing-based Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000. Tuned for visualisation workflows, the Nvidia RTX A6000 (A for Ampere) is Nvidia’s second generation RTX GPU. UK firm Scan is taking pre-orders for the PNY Nvidia RTX A6000 from 3 March and sent us a sample to review inside its new 3XS GWP-ME N1-32T AMD Ryzen Threadripper workstation, which we review in full here. But with delays, we’ve been eagerly awaiting its arrival.Īnd now it’s finally here – well, nearly. Nvidia first announced its new Nvidia RTX A6000 workstation GPU back in October 2020. And it’s certainly been worth the wait, writes Greg Corke. It wouldn't come near houdini, but overthrowing max/rhino/c4d for general uses is more than possible. The Nvidia RTX A6000, one of the most eagerly anticipated workstation GPUs in recent years, is finally here. I really do believe that blender could dominate the general 3d software market in the future. After blender's ui everything else feels like some ancient technology. Cycles in 3.0 is wayyyy better than it was before. A lot more companies right now hire for max archviz than blender, and i don't find being a freelancer in the field too appealing.īut with all being said. Blender is more fit for product rendering overall. Eg some decoration sets you could get for $2 look cool and contain a shitton of different materials and the best way to transfer that to blender is fbx+redoing everything yourself. Meanwhile max can be a lot more forgiving in the sense.Īnd despite blender having a great and supportive community that pumps out lots and lots of content, archviz is relatively undeveloped and quality assets and up to date tutorials that are abundant in max are a problem for blender. ifc instead of rvt, and that could be a bit of a hassle.Īlso, complex scenes and animation require a lot of optimizations which you would have to explore yourself. Even revit files - there is a really cool addon for that - but you'd have to contact clients for them to send it to you in. You can't really import complex DWGs (which would require converting to dxf) into blender, and stuff like that. Only post your work if you are open to criticism.ģds max + Corona/vray is industry standard and you should not take that lightly - Autodesk put in a LOT of work so that you feel really inconvenient working in archviz without their products. Posting other people's work is okay if you include credit. Work in progress renders are welcome but don't forget to mention it is a work in progress and be open to criticism. Please post your images on a site like Imgur rather than your personal website. Posting your own work is welcome, but please include some information (software, renderer etc.). All quotes and portfolio links should be kept to private messages though. Please be detailed in what you are looking for and your budget. Looking to hire someone? Feel free to create a post.
